Nominate for the Business Excellence Awards (BEAwards) 2025

Our Nominations & Research Process

The Business Excellence Awards (BEAwards) recognizes businesses, individuals, and organizations that have demonstrated a positive socio-economic impact within Uganda. Nominees can include:

  • Companies, firms, or startups operating within Uganda.

  • Individuals who originate from Uganda but work internationally, contributing to positive change in the region.

  • Local government entities delivering services within Uganda.

  • Individuals who have shown exceptional innovation and leadership in their work within Uganda.

Exceptions: Nominees must not be under any restrictions, investigations, or disciplinary actions related to their business practices.

Public Nominations

Nominations can be made by a wide range of entities, including individuals, associations, trusts, public and private companies, educational institutions (primary, secondary, and tertiary), subnational and national government bodies, civil society organizations, and more.

Nomination is open for both businesses nominating themselves or third-party businesses that they admire for their excellence and impact.

BEAwards Research Team

The BEAwards Research Team plays a pivotal role in identifying outstanding businesses and driving many of the nominations themselves. The team actively encourages nominations from subscribers, website visitors, social media followers, on-ground survey respondents, clients, and the wider community.

Once nominations are received, they are compiled, and the results are presented to a jury of experts who evaluate the submissions based on predefined criteria. The jury consists of professionals from various industries, ensuring a fair and comprehensive selection process.

Registration & Entry Process

To participate in the Business Excellence Awards 2025, follow these simple steps to ensure your business has the best chance of receiving recognition:

1. Request an Entry Kit

Request your entry kit to be sent via email, which will guide you through the nomination process.

2. Determine Who or What to Nominate and in Which Categories

Decide which individuals, groups, or media (websites, campaigns, etc.) within your organization you wish to nominate. Then, select the most appropriate categories for those entries. If you’re unsure, our team is here to assist you. For more information, feel free to Contact Us.

3. Guide on Entry Preparation

Once you have accepted your nomination, you may be asked to submit additional supporting information. While this is optional, many nominees find that this stage adds significant value to their nomination. Nominees who formally accept will then proceed to the next step of the process, where they are evaluated by the jury.

Vetting & Judging

Our dedicated jury reviews all nominations and supporting information to select the most deserving businesses. Jury members independently gather data from publicly accessible sources and compare it with the information submitted by the nominee or nominating party.

Judging Criteria:

The jury evaluates nominations based on key factors such as:

  • Business Performance

  • Job Creation

  • Longevity and Growth (sustained or rapid)

  • Innovations and Impact

  • Feedback from Stakeholders

Once all the information is assessed, the top nominees in each category are announced, and voting begins.

Participate in the Judging Process

The judging committee is made up of professionals with expertise across various industries. Judges are assigned categories based on their function and experience. They evaluate submissions in groups, with each group focusing on specific categories.

Apply to Be a Judge

If you are interested in becoming a judge, you can apply to review entries across various categories. As a judge, you’ll gain insight into the types of entries that score highly in the evaluation process. Please note that you cannot judge entries in categories where you have submitted your own nomination.

Conflict of Interest

Judges with a conflict of interest—such as involvement with a company nominated in the same category or any personal affiliations with nominees—are expected to recuse themselves from the vetting process for those categories. The chairperson has the right to request any judge to stand aside if a conflict of interest is identified.

Disciplinary Action

If a judge is found to have participated in the vetting process despite a conflict of interest, they will be disqualified from the process, and their participation will be deemed invalid.
